Last night, after dropping off a friend at her house, my mom and I were in the car with Chanel, as usual. She was happy, enjoying the ride. When we got home, I opened the car door and Chanel got out, happy as she always does… but this time, everything changed in a second.
Chanel crossed the street just as I called her. She was heading straight for my arms, but at that exact moment, a car drove by and hit her in front of me. It was a terrifying moment I still can't get out of my mind.
We immediately took her to the vet, and the diagnosis was devastating: her hip was fractured into multiple pieces. Chanel is alive, but in extreme pain. The only option for her to walk again and have a good quality of life is urgent surgery.
